ToxinFreeMaterials is committed to producing accurate, well-researched, and practical content about toxic chemicals in everyday products and safer alternatives. This policy explains how we create, review, and maintain our guides.
Authorship
All content on ToxinFreeMaterials is written by Jarrod Gravison with editorial review. We take responsibility for the accuracy, currency, and completeness of everything we publish. Content is reviewed and updated as research changes and products launch.
Research Standards
Every guide is based on:
- Primary sources — the EPA, Environmental Working Group (EWG), CDC, and FDA for chemical-safety and regulatory guidance, plus peer-reviewed exposure research.
- Spec comparison — product recommendations are based on verified materials, certifications, and independent test data where available.
- Cross-referencing — facts are checked against at least two independent sources. When sources disagree, we note the discrepancy and present the consensus.
Review Process
Each article goes through the following before publication:
- Initial research and drafting from primary sources.
- Fact-checking — every claim, chemical, and safety statement is verified.
- Readability review — useful to a concerned consumer without overstating risk.
- Safety review — any content touching health claims is checked against current consensus, and we avoid overstating or understating chemical risk.
Honesty First
We distinguish between established science, emerging research, and precautionary concern. We will never claim a product is “100% safe” — that framing is meaningless for chemical exposure — and we will never inflate risk to drive clicks. When the science is uncertain, we say so.
